Terms of the free alt text service

Last updated 2026-10-16.

These terms cover Fixlight's free AI alt text service, which the Fixlight WordPress plugin uses only when you turn it on. The plugin itself is free software under the GPL.

1. What it is. The service suggests alt text for images you choose. Each website gets 50 free descriptions per calendar month (UTC). The allowance resets on the first day of each month.
2. Check the suggestions. AI makes mistakes. Read each suggestion before you save it; you are responsible for the text on your site.
3. Only images you may share. Send only images you have the right to use, and nothing illegal.
4. Fair use. We may limit or block use that looks automated or abusive, for example many registrations or requests from one network.
5. No guarantee. The service is free and provided as it is, without any warranty. It may be unavailable at times, and we may change or end it. If we change the free allowance, the change applies from the next month and we announce it in the plugin's changelog. Everything else in the plugin keeps working without the service.
6. Not legal advice. Fixlight helps make sites more accessible. It does not make a site compliant with any law or standard, and nothing Fixlight says is legal advice.
